How to Proofread, Perform Grammar and Spell Check for WooCommerce Product Description with ChatGPT

In this article we’ll show you how to perform automated product description proofreading with ChatGPT and Store Manager software. Before we proceed with the task, let's check the data we have now.

In the screenshot below, you can see our WooCommerce products with current descriptions. The description is poorly written and requires an update. Such a description might be an insufficient translation from a different language, or a text with typos and grammar mistakes made by a copywriter.

Let’s check this product on the frontend.

We have slightly updated the text, so that you can see the difference. Some words are misspelled and there are grammar and syntax errors present as well.

Let’s check how ChatGPT will fix all this mess.

Step 1: Create Your Own Prompt

To fix our product description, let's start with prompt editing. For that, go to the ChatGPT menu and open PromptBook. Here you will see a list of available prompts that can be applied to your WooCommerce catalog massively. Also, you can create your own prompt depending on your business needs.

We'll use the prompt that allows us to proofread and perform a spell check on product descriptions.

Step 2: Insert the Desired Macros in the Prompt

You can see that our target field is Product Description. That is the field that the result will be saved into overwriting the existing product description.

Also, in this same window, you can find a macros list with product fields that can be used for proofreading or content generation. We'll add the product name and product description macros fields to our prompt. Those are the fields that the description for the proofreading will be taken from.

Play around with your prompt to make sure it allows you to get the perfect content. Note that the description might contain HTML and our prompt allows you to keep it intact. If you have any other specific requirements, make sure to include them in the prompt as well.

Do not forget to hit "Apply" to save changes before you proceed.

Step 3: Go to the ChatGPT Mass Changer

Once you are done with your prompt, go back to the products list and select those you would like to apply this prompt to. We recommend selecting a few products to check the result before applying this prompt to all catalog. We'll show you how it works with one product. To run the process, use the "ChatGPT" button.

Step 4: Choose a Prompt and an Action

Here you can select the Prompt that you would like to apply, and the Action to be performed.

In our case, we'll proofread and perform a spell check on product description and replace the existing product description with the corrected one.

Step 5: Go to the ChatGPT Tasks Queue

Let’s run the process and go to the Tasks Queue to see the ChatGPT in action.

In this menu you can see the list of products and tasks that are executed. You can see the Response from ChatGPT before applying it to your products. The status is changed from Pending to Generated once the process is complete.

Step 6: Apply the Result

If you’re satisfied with the result, hit "Apply" for each product one-by-one or in bulk.

Step 7: Check the Store for Changes

Let’s check the result now.

In the screenshot below, you can see the updated product description with the preserved the HTML tags.

Also let’s check one product on the frontend. Do not forget to refresh the page to see the result.

You can perform this action for all your products in bulk. Also you can generate a new product description, translate it into multiple languages, or enrich your current description using the ChatGPT tool in bulk.
